A recent spike in pedestrian accidents downtown has prompted Cincinnati City Council to consider a ban on right turns at red lights in the city's core. Councilmember Meeka Owens introduced the proposal, citing the need to improve pedestrian safety.
The proposed ban would apply to the area bordered by the Ohio River to the south, Central Parkway to the north, I-71 to the east, and Ezzard Charles Drive to the west. This zone encompasses busy areas with heavy foot traffic, including Fountain Square
